Approve frames before video
Draw and approve the still frames a reel starts from first. A clip you throw away costs as much as one you keep, and re-shoots are where budgets go.
Pick a model, a resolution and how many reels you post. See what one reel, a week and a month cost, and the same reel on every model side by side.
Kling 4 at 1080p: $1.88 of video and $0.18 of still frames a reel, plus re-shoots.

On token-billed models 1080p can cost two to five times 720p. For phone-first platforms 720p is often enough; save 1080p for hero posts.
A written cut list in a single generation is cheaper than separate clips stitched together, and models like Kling 4 can land on a drawn end frame.
Most short-form reels land in 8 to 15 seconds. Every extra second is paid for, and a tight edit usually performs better anyway.
Voice and lip-sync add cost and are where AI video is weakest. Stories told in pictures are cheaper and travel further with the sound off.

It multiplies each model's price per second by your reel length, adds the still frames each reel starts from and the share of reels you expect to make twice, then scales it to a week and a month. It runs in your browser.

In our tests a 10 to 15 second reel cost about $1.50 to $3 on Wan 3.0 or Kling, and roughly ten times that on Seedance 2.5 at 1080p, including the still frames it starts from.
Of the strong models we tested, Wan 3.0 costs least per second. Grok Imagine Lite is cheaper still but simpler. Kling 4 is our pick for most reels because it follows a cut list and lands on an end frame.
It includes the sound the video models make themselves (Kling and Wan generate sound with the picture). A separate voice clone or licensed music would be extra.
