What your influencer says in videos
Most videos have nobody speaking. When your influencer does, it is a short line in their own voice, and no subtitles or captions are added. See how to read the words and ask for others.

How much they say
Most reels are told in pictures and have nobody speaking, so they work with the sound off. When someone does speak, it is short:
- In an edited reel, one short line or two, each under 10 words.
- In a reel where your influencer talks to the camera, one short line, such as a tip or a strong opinion. These are rare. Your influencer makes one when you ask for it, or when that line is the whole idea.
- A joke or a payoff is not left to the words. It is something you can see.
Ads are the exception. A talking ad is a small story told out loud for 20 to 30 seconds, written line by line. See Make an ad for your product.
Only written lines become speech. Your caption is never read aloud.
No subtitles or captions on the video
No subtitles, captions or hook line are put on any video. Words are either said out loud or go in the caption under the post. The caption is separate: you can read it before you approve and change it with Edit. On your phone you can also edit it yourself.
Whose voice
Your influencer speaks in the voice you gave them. See Give your influencer a voice. In an ad, a product that talks back answers in its own short line, in a different voice.
Read the words before you approve
- Read the storyboard on the card in Today. On your phone, tap the post, then the caption area. It says what the video shows from the first second to the last. For an ad it also says what your influencer says.
- For an edited reel or an ad, click the card on the web and open Video plan. It lists every shot, with each spoken line in quotes. In an edited reel, a shot with no line says "Nobody speaks." Your phone doesn't show the Video plan.
- Press Generate video, watch it with the sound on, then press Approve video or the X.
Ask for a different line, or none
Edit and Redraw redraw the pictures. They don't change what is said. To change the words:
- Press the X. It asks "Dismiss this idea?", or "Throw away this video?" once the video is made.
- Ask for a new post with New post idea on the web, or + on your phone. Choose Reel.
- Write what you want, for example: "Your influencer on a ferry deck at sunrise. Nobody speaks." Or ask for one line: "Your influencer tells the camera a tip about packing light."
Tip: Keep a line short and plain. A line that only works when it is timed just right usually comes out flat.
