Short answer: not much from Snapchat itself, and that's down to one rule, not to AI. Snapchat's own money comes through its Monetization Program (ads between your Stories and Spotlights, revenue shared with you). To be invited you need 50,000 followers, 15,000 hours of view time in the last 28 days (3,000 of them from Spotlight), and you must be a Snap Star. Snap Star and Brand Partnerships both ask for an account that "represents a real person or people". A character account doesn't fit that as written.
AI content is fine. Snapchat's Creator Monetization Policy says content made with "AI-based tools is monetizable", if it is original, entertaining or informative, not misleading, and "the use of AI is disclosed anywhere in the content or creator profile". The block is the real-person rule on the programs, not the AI.
So for an AI influencer, Snapchat is a place to reach people, not a paycheck. Labelled deals you agree with brands yourself, and affiliate links, still work.
Yes. Instagram lets an AI character run a professional account and earn from Gifts on reels (500 followers), Meta's Creator Marketplace (1,000) and Subscriptions (10,000), if the person behind it is 18+ and the content passes Instagram's monetization rules. Those rules rule out slideshows of still images, text montages and reposted clips. Here is each rule, read on Instagram's own pages.
Snapchat pays creators through invitation-only programs, and those programs are built around real people.

The Monetization Program, rule by rule
Snapchat reviews accounts itself and emails an invitation. You can't apply, and the help page warns that anyone who offers to get you in for money "is not affiliated with" Snap. The criteria:
Audience: at least 50,000 followers, and 15,000 hours of view time over the last 28 days, with at least 3,000 of those hours from Spotlight.
Age and place: 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live), in an eligible country.
Content: original, advertiser-friendly, within the Community Guidelines and the Content Guidelines for Recommendation Eligibility.
Snap Star: the account must be a verified Snap Star.
Since 7 May 2026 you also need at least 100 hours of Spotlight view time in the last 28 days for maximum rewards, and a Spotlight only earns if it is 30 seconds or longer. Payouts can be cashed out from $100.
Item 4 is where an AI account stops. Snap Star is Snapchat's verification badge, and the account-labels page says it tells people "the account is operated by the real person or an authorized team" and that Snap confirms "the person is a real public figure or creator" and "their identity matches the account". An AI character has no identity to match. Snap doesn't write "no AI characters" anywhere we found; it writes "real person", and a character account isn't one.
The revenue share, Snap Star and Brand Partnerships are invite-only, and all three ask for a real person behind the profile.
What Snapchat says about AI content
The rules on AI are clear and fairly friendly:
Disclose it. The monetization rule above only needs the AI use disclosed "anywhere in the content or creator profile". A line in the bio such as "AI character, made by [your name or studio]" does it.
Don't use AI to fool people. "Deceptively manipulated media" is not monetizable, and the Community Guidelines ban "pretending to be someone (or something) that you're not, or attempting to deceive people about who you are".
Your region's label rules still apply. "Some regions require users to clearly disclose or label AI-generated content. You are responsible for ensuring your use and sharing of synthetic media meets the transparency requirements in your region." In the EU that means Article 50 of the AI Act; our disclosure checker gives you the caption line for each platform.
Recommendations favour real content. "On Spotlight and Discover, our content recommendation algorithms prioritize authentic content."
No template spam. Content where "the core visual or audio contribution is mechanically or automatically generated, such as the consistent use of stock reaction footage, or template-based visual effects" is not monetizable, and neither is re-posting "the same or similar content over and over".
What an AI influencer can still do on Snapchat
1. Labelled brand deals you agree yourself. Snapchat's Commercial Content Policy covers content you're paid or gifted to post, and it applies to anyone: name the brand, and use Snap's paid partnership tool. Its own examples: paid to mention a brand, yes; sent free skates for a review, yes; borrowed skates with a logo shown, yes; skates you bought yourself, no. The same page bans using anyone's "name, likeness (including look-alikes), voice (including sound-alikes)" without consent, so the character must be your own invention.
2. Affiliate links and your own products. Same tool: selling your own product counts too ("You make and sell roller skates ... Yes"). See AI influencer affiliate marketing.
3. Use Snapchat for reach and send people elsewhere. Instagram and TikTok pay AI accounts through their own tools at lower bars. Instagram Gifts open at 500 followers and TikTok's Creator Rewards at 10,000 (see Instagram and TikTok).
4. Run Snapchat as yourself, the maker. If you, a real person, build a following making the character ("how I make her videos"), the account represents you, and the real-person rule is met. Then Snap Star and the program are a fair goal, with AI use disclosed.
A Professional Account (Creator or Business type) is open to some adults on a Public Profile, but it gives you tools, not Snap Star or an invitation.
Even for real creators, Snapchat pays for watch time: 15,000 hours a month and Spotlights of 30 seconds or more.
What it costs to try
Snapchat pays for watch time, and Spotlights under 30 seconds earn nothing. Our own videos run 10 to 30 seconds, so they'd sit at or under that line. From our accounts: a picture costs about $0.02 and a second of video $0.10 to $0.16, and only 48% of the frames our critic reviewed were good enough to keep (our numbers). A 30-second Spotlight is $3 to $5 of clips before retakes. Our video cost calculator works it out for your plan. On Snapchat that spend buys reach, not a revenue share.
FAQ
Does Snapchat pay AI influencers? Not through its own programs, as written today. The Monetization Program needs a Snap Star, and Snap Star needs an account that "represents a real person or people". AI-made content itself can be monetized if it's disclosed.
Is AI content allowed on Snapchat? Yes. Snapchat says content made with "AI-based tools is monetizable" when it is original, not misleading and the AI use is disclosed in the content or profile. Deceiving people about who you are is not allowed.
How many followers do you need to make money on Snapchat? 50,000 followers plus 15,000 hours of view time in the last 28 days (3,000 from Spotlight), and a Snap Star badge. Since 7 May 2026, 100 hours of Spotlight view time in 28 days for maximum rewards.
Can I still get paid for Spotlight videos? Only inside the Monetization Program. The separate Spotlight Rewards program "ended on January 31, 2025". Spotlights must be 30 seconds or longer to earn.
Can my AI character do sponsored Snaps? Yes, if you mark them with Snap's paid partnership tool and name the brand, and the character isn't based on a real person's likeness or voice.
Influgen gives every AI influencer a small team: a head writer for the ideas, a creative director and stylist for each scene, a critic who rejects frames before they post. Every post is made fresh for your character and labelled as AI, and you approve it before it goes out. Start here, or try the free tools first.
Yes, if a real adult runs the account and the videos are your own. Creator Rewards needs 10,000 followers, 100,000 views in 30 days and videos of at least a minute; Video Gifts, Series and TikTok One also start at 10,000. TikTok doesn't ban AI characters, but it requires a label on realistic AI content and doesn't pay for reposted or lightly edited clips. Here are the rules, read on TikTok's own pages.
Yes, from a Facebook Page, not a personal profile: Facebook's Terms say your account uses the name you use in everyday life. A Page can earn through Content Monetization (still invite-only), Stars from 500 followers and Subscriptions from 10,000, if the content is your own and labelled where Meta requires it. Here are the rules, read on Meta's own pages.
