Short answer: yes, but the program most guides still describe is gone. X stopped taking new members into Creator Revenue Sharing on 7 August 2026 and ended it on 7 September 2026. Its replacement, Original Content Rewards, pays on views from Premium users and has a rule an AI account has to read twice: content is ineligible if it "was created or posted using automated means".
The new bar, in one line: an X Premium subscription, 500 verified followers, 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users in the last 90 days (replies don't count), age 18+, a supported country, and an application that X reviews.
Only with a real person behind it, talking in real time. TikTok LIVE needs a host aged 18+ and 1,000 followers, Instagram Live a public account with 1,000 followers, YouTube a verified channel (50 subscribers on mobile). TikTok Shop LIVEs ban AI voices and pre-recorded audio. Here is what each platform asks and what an AI influencer can do instead.

The rules that matter for an AI influencer
1. "Created or posted using automated means" is excluded. This is the line to plan around. X doesn't define it on the page, and it doesn't say that a picture made with an AI tool counts as "automated means". What it plainly covers is posting by a bot or a script. A post that a scheduler publishes for you through the API is the grey zone: X lists it as ineligible content, not as a banned account, so the risk is that those posts earn nothing.
2. The content must be yours and must add something. X's definition of original is content "you have personally created" that "reflects your own voice, perspective, or expertise". Out: reuploads from other platforms, clips with "a filter" or "a text overlay" on someone else's video, compilations. A character you designed, scenes you wrote and captions in your own words are the original part; a feed of trending clips with an AI face pasted in is not.
3. A made-up character is allowed; deceiving people with it is not. X's Authenticity policy says you are "not required to display your real identity", but you may not use "manufactured identities to engage in disruptive or deceptive behavior", which "may include using stock, stolen or AI-generated profile photos ... for the purpose of deceiving others". Say in the bio that the character is AI and you are on the right side of that line.
4. A real person gets paid, and only one. The account holder must be 18 or older, pass identity verification and connect X Money (US) or Stripe. X says each person can have only one X Money account, tied to their Social Security Number, so a second account doesn't open a second payout.
5. Some AI content loses pay outright. Since 3 March 2026, posting AI-generated video of an armed conflict without saying it was made with AI suspends you from the program for 90 days; a second time ends payments for good. Sexually explicit content is ineligible, and adult, violent and "debatable social issues" content may earn less.
6. Don't beg for engagement. Repeatedly asking people to like, reply, bookmark, follow or repost can get you removed. So can bots or tools that inflate likes, follows or views.
Original means your own idea and your own words.
The account checklist before you apply
X's Monetization Standards apply to every paid program. Before you apply, the account needs:
to be at least 3 months old;
a complete profile: name, bio, profile picture and header image;
a verified email and two-factor authentication;
a Premium subscription (see the table);
good standing: no repeated breaks of the User Agreement or the Monetization Standards;
a person aged 18+ in a supported country (the US, UK, Canada, Australia and most of the EU are on X's list).
Other ways to earn on X
Subscriptions (followers pay you monthly for extra posts) has a higher bar in the Monetization Standards: 2,000 active followers who pay for Premium, 5 million organic impressions in the last 3 months, and a post in the last 30 days. For most new AI accounts that comes later.
Affiliate links and your own products need no program at all. The usual disclosure rules apply: say when a link earns you money, and label the character as AI. Our guide to AI influencer affiliate marketing covers both.
Scheduled posts are the grey zone in X's new program.
If you use a scheduler (including ours)
Influgen can publish an influencer's posts to X through X's official API, on a schedule you approve. That is allowed on X; it is how scheduling tools work. But for Original Content Rewards, an API-published post may count as "posted using automated means", and X doesn't say otherwise. If X payouts matter to you:
post the pieces you want paid for yourself, in the X app, and write the caption in your own words;
keep the scheduler for everything else;
don't apply until the account clears the reach bar on its own; buying followers or views breaks the rules and the "qualified impressions" count ignores paid and promoted views anyway.
Is X Creator Revenue Sharing still available? No. X stopped new enrollments on 7 August 2026 and ended the program on 7 September 2026. From 8 September X began letting its members apply to Original Content Rewards; if they had already verified their ID and connected a payout method, they don't need to do it again.
How many followers do you need to make money on X in 2026? 500 verified followers for Original Content Rewards, plus 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users in 90 days. Subscriptions needs 2,000 active Premium followers and 5 million organic impressions in 3 months.
Can AI-generated posts earn money on X? X's page doesn't ban AI-made content from the program. It asks for original content in your own voice, and it excludes content "created or posted using automated means", copied or reuploaded content, and content with a helpful Community Note. Label realistic AI content, and always label AI video of armed conflict.
Do non-verified followers count? Not for the bar or the pay. The follower bar counts verified followers, and payouts count unique views from Premium users on the Home Timeline.
How much does X pay? X doesn't publish a rate. Pay depends on qualified impressions, and the minimum payout is $30, every two weeks.
Make yours
Influgen gives you an AI influencer with a small team behind her: a head writer for ideas, a creative director and a critic who checks every frame before you see it. You approve every post, and you decide which ones go out by schedule and which you post yourself. Start here, or try the free tools first.
Mostly not as a character. Instagram and TikTok verify real people, registered businesses and entities, and paid Meta Verified checks a government ID against your legal name. YouTube needs 100,000 subscribers. On X the blue check is a Premium subscription, not ID verification. Here is what each platform asks and what to do instead.
Yes for ordinary posts, with limits; mostly no for anything that promotes a product. Instagram's licensed library is for personal, non-commercial use, TikTok tells business posts to use its Commercial Music Library, and on YouTube a song in a Short is claimed and shrinks the Shorts revenue pool. Here is what each platform says and what to use instead.
